Fabiana, a 19-year-old student from Angola has gone for a monochrome look, brightened up with a slick of red lipstick. She is wearing black leggings from New Look, a leather jacket from Forever 21, a white jumper over a black vest top and white trainers. She has accessorised with a black bag and a necklace from Primark, along with a scarf from a market tied around her hair. She said: “I like to wear everything, you need to make your own fashion.”

Charlotte Stapley, 24, is ready for the rain in a pair of blue Vivienne Westwood wellies. The massage therapist from south east London is wearing a bright red coat with matching nail polish and a furry scarf, both from Miss Selfridge with a pair of striped tights from Accessorize and a patent black bag, also from Vivienne Westwood. Charlotte, who is out shopping in Camden today on the search for an ashtray, said she loves the 1950s style.

Kimberly Mcquiggan, is wearing a floral-print dress from Zara with a little belt round the middle, with black pop socks from Topshop and black shoes from Primark. She has added a headband from Topshop, a studded leather jacket from Misguided a bag from a boutique in Liverpool. The 28-year-old from Coventry, who is now studying Psychology at London Metropolitan University, said her best bit of advice is to be different and not wear what everyone else is doing.

James Farnes, 19, stands out from the crowd in his vibrant tiger print jacket from Retrobates Vintage in Greenwich. He is wearing bleached skinny jeans from River Island, a blue shirt from Marks and Spencer, shades from a charity shop in Brighton and almost a dozen necklaces from his travels to Greece, Turkey, Spain and Lanzarote. James, who is studying politics and philosophy at Greenwich University said: “I've got loads of stuff going on, but it's sometimes difficult to put it all together without looking like I've just fallen through a charity shop. Though most of my clothes do come from charity shops…”

Twenty-year-old Brooke Gray from Islington is wearing chequered jeans from Topshop with a black crop top and a grey Primark cardigan. She has opted for platform Dr Martens for a bit of extra height and added lots of jewellery, including necklaces and a bodychain from eBay, and a choker from Camden Market. Her wide-brimmed hat from Topshop finishes off the look. Brooke, who works as a sales executive for a bar, is inspired by Jessie J's style and simply advises people to “be quirky”.

Esther Louise Thompson, 31, from Bristol, is wearing a headband with ears from Lipsy, denim dungarees from Select, a black leotard from H&M, a pair of fluffy boots from Shoe Zone and a brown bag from TK Maxx.
